Reusing – by reusing materials we can cut down on the amount of rubbish we produce;

Recycling - the process of minimising waste by recovering materials and transforming 
them into new products. 

На минулому уроці

На минулому уроці ми дізналися про те, що повітря в містах стало брудним через викидні гази автомобілів і дим заводів і котелень, де спалювались вугілля і нафта. Не тільки на вулицях, а й вздовж шляхів, навіть у лісах, на берегах рік, озер й морів з’явились купи сміття. Адже багато хто з людей, у тому числі й діти, викидають прямо собі під ноги обгортки, пляшки та інші непотрібні речі. Вони не задумуються над тим, що скло та пластмаса залишаються сміттям на тривалий час: природа сама не взмозі від них позбавитись. Більшу частину сміття, що забруднює Землю складає пластмаса. Пляшки з пластмаси, викинуті в лісі, пролежать без змін 100 та більше років, а викинутий папір “з’їдять” невидимі мікроби за 1-2 роки. Світовими рекордсменами по кількості відходів є мешканці Нью-Йорка, а у Франції найбільш активною та розвиненою вважається переробка сміття. Британія є “ящиком сміття Європи”, де автотранспорт займає перше місце по загальному об’єму викидів шкідливих речовин...

Always think about what you are throwing away!

Would someone else like what you are throwing away?

Would a charity shop benefit from the item?

Why don't you make your own gifts and cards for your family and friends - they'll prefer the personal touch!
Reuse

Reusing things can delay or avoid something being thrown away

You can reuse paper that has been used on one side as a notepad or for drawings.

Some items you may be able to take into school to use for arts and crafts.

Recycle

If you cannot reduce or reuse your waste put it in your blue box or take it to a recycling bank around the borough!
